The Bookish Snob Tag

I was tagged for this by Riddhi at Whispering Stories. Riddhi’s the best, and she posts some really great content, so go check out her blog! I know I’m very late to answering this, but at this point procrastination’s my middle name lmao.

• ADAPTATION SNOB: Do you always read the book before watching the film/ TV show?

This was actually a rule that was made by my mother when I was around 3, or 4. I was wanting to watch this Dr Suess Movie (I don’t remember which one), and she created a rule that to watch any movie, if it had a book, I needed to read the book first. I think the only time I’ve ever broken this rule is when Murder on the Orient Express came to theatres, and I hadn’t read the book yet, and we booked our seats for the first screening, so I never had time to read the book. I still did read the book the day after we saw the movie, but that’s beside the point.

• FORMAT SNOB: You can only choose 1 format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, eBooks, or audiobooks?

I would probably choose physical books because I love the feel of holding an actual book, and the smell of the pages. The experience you get while reading eBooks and physical books is completely different. I don’t really enjoy audiobooks or even when people read-aloud to me. I’m not sure why, but I just don’t like it.

• SHIP SNOB: Would you date or marry a non-reader?

It honestly doesn’t make a difference to me as long as they don’t mind me reading.

• GENRE SNOB: You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?

Definitely anything non-fiction. I don’t really enjoy non-fiction that much, and barely read it anyway. My parents have really tried to get me to read non-fiction more, but I just can’t, oops!

• UBER GENRE SNOB: You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?

Fantasy! Although I love other genres too, I love Fantasy! I love the world-building, and imagination. Most of my favourite books are in this genre, so I would probably pick Fantasy 🙂

• COMMUNITY SNOB: Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?

I would say either Fantasy or YA romance. A lot of people categorise YA romance as “quirky” and “cheesy” when a lot of it really isn’t. A ton of people also criticise world-building and character-traits in Fantasy, I don’t know why.
